New and Revised SMPTE Standards

From the September Issue of the Motion Imaging Journal.

The following standards were recently published/revised:

A new Public Committee Draft (PCD) of a standard has become available: SMPTE ST 2067-21 Interoperable Master Format—Application #2E. It is a revision of SMPTE ST 2067-21:2023.

• This IMF App2 revision adds support for 8K resolution, improves the documentation of HTJ2K codestream constraints, and provides example JPEG 2000 encoder commands.
• The public review period ends no earlier than 1 July 2025 and no later than 1 December 2025.
