The SMPTE Sum-Up 12-6-2025

June 23, 2026

Welcome to the SMPTE Sum-Up, the weekly publication that details the recent and current events of your favorite standards development organization. Recently at SMPTE:

SMPTE Washington D.C. held two meetings this week! Both occurring on the same day, “Media Forward at WBAL Student & Emerging Professional Program” and “SMPTE-DC November Membership Meeting – Hosted by CHESA” were both informative and fun. The former was focused on students while the latter was focused on working professionals.

SMPTE Hollywood had a meet up with HPA this week! This relaxed evening was held at Golden Road Brewing, and featured no program, no panels, and no meeting. It was simply a nice night out with colleagues that culminated in full bellies and new friendships.

The Content Provenance and Authenticity (CPA) Study Group has a brand-new public survey! The survey’s goal is to identify gaps in current standards, explore interoperability with emerging technologies such as C2PA, and inform future SMPTE work that supports secure, verifiable, and trustworthy media production. It will also ask for user stories during the survey. Standards also wants the Society to check out our new and improved recently published document page.

The SMPTE Job Board has been updated!

-    Chief Engineer, Nebraska Public Media
-    Studio Production Instructional Professional, Arizona State University
-    Technical Project Manager, EVS Broadcast Equipment
-    Broadcast Technology Specialist, Lawo Inc
