IPMX: What Is It and How Can You Take Advantage of It

Description

As broadcasters continue to explore and take advantage of the benefits of new and emerging IP-based workflows, they are looking to do so on their current infrastructures—without reinvesting, reworking, or creating entirely new networks. The broadcast market's answer: Pro AV/IT's IPMX suite of standards. Built on SMPTE ST 2110 and NMOS technologies, IPMX enables multiple new workflows for the Pro AV/IT market while aiming to make things easier and simpler. Discover how broadcasters can use IPMX to leverage more cost-effective network infrastructures that enable them to seamlessly integrate COTS equipment into existing ST 2110 networks, evolve workflows to changing needs, and reduce operational costs.

Jean Lapierre is the Senior Director, Advanced Technologies for Matrox Video. A graduate of Concordia University in the field of Computer Engineering, Jean joined Matrox in 1989. He has been involved in the development of state-of-the-art video broadcast hardware and software at Matrox since then. In recent years, Jean has focused on developing Matrox’s technology for SMPTE ST 2022, ST 2110, and AMWA NMOS. He participated in the development of the JT-NM Tested program and is currently Co-Chair of the VSF IPMX Activity Group.

This presentation will explore today's most popular questions on IPMX for broadcast, including:

-What is IPMX, and why was it created?
-What problems does IPMX solve?
-How does IPMX work, and how is it different than ST 2110?
-How does IPMX allow broadcast engineers to build a simpler and more agile network?
-How does IPMX optimize current infrastructure investments while supporting compressed and uncompressed media workflows in ST 2110 environments?
