XR and Virtual Production: Technology Involved and Workflow Overview

This month’s SMPTE meeting will focus on XR (extended reality) and VP (Virtual Production) with an emphasis on how it applies to broadcast or live production.

Our speakers are from disguise, a London-based company that has developed a platform of production software and powerful media server hardware that enables creatives and technologists to imagine, create and deliver spectacular visual experiences.

The topics to be covered in this presentation are:

  • Common VP terminology -What technology is needed?
  • Choosing the right hardware based on production needs

About the speakers:

Based in sunny Los Angeles, Marcus Bengtsson is a Technical Solutions Specialist for disguise. Marcus holds a degree in Software Engineering and Management and is a published author, award-winning engineer, inventor of several patents, and a challenger of the status quo. When he is not trying to solve impossible problems, Marcus enjoys mountain biking, rock climbing, scuba diving, good food and good wine.

Ely Stacy joins the disguise Technical Solutions team from NewTek focusing on cutting edge XR and Virtual Production technology and live production workflows. With experience in broadcast productions as a video engineer and live switcher operator, he has worked ona variety of live productions integrating cellular bonding video transmission, IP video, switchers and content delivery.
