Summer has officially begun and SMPTE sections have come out to play! There were a ton of events this week, like the New York section meeting on the sustainability and economic viability of wireless television delivery. This zoom meeting was open to everyone, and discussed future compatibility between 5G, streaming, and ATSC 3.0. Zoom meetings like these are opportunities to bring industry leaders together from all over the world while allowing them to wear comfortable pants off-screen. It’s a beautiful age we live in.

Summer has officially begun and SMPTE sections have come out to play! There were a ton of events this week, like the New York section meeting on the sustainability and economic viability of wireless television delivery. This zoom meeting was open to everyone, and discussed future compatibility between 5G, streaming, and ATSC 3.0. Zoom meetings like these are opportunities to bring industry leaders together from all over the world while allowing them to wear comfortable pants off-screen. It’s a beautiful age we live in.

SMPTE Ohio had a section meeting this week as well, and the focus was entirely on the brand new, state-of-the-art media arts center at WOSU. The meeting included a tour of the facility, a welcome treat for any meeting! The festivities even included a refreshment hour for some added fun. It was a great way to welcome the WOSU Public Media Plant into the industry.

SMPTE isn’t the only organization that hosted stellar events this week. HBO hosted a Camera Assessment Series. However, never one to miss out on the opportunity to have a good time, SMPTE Hollywood threw a special screening of the event. Teaming up with the Digital Cinema Society, this special screening allowed members of both groups to check out the newest film equipment while socializing with peers.

Finally, the UK section is currently holding their annual Media Technology Conference! This highly anticipated event features exhibits and discussions on the future of production, the future of distribution, and the future of SMPTE. This event always showcases the best tech and minds the industry has to offer, and we know that it’s going off without a hitch!
