Paul Briscoe | Canada Region, 2020-2021
Briscoe began his industry career in 1980 in Engineering at CBC Television. Specializing in the emerging domains of digital television and CGI, he was one of the lead designers of the all-digital Toronto Broadcast Centre. He joined Leitch Technology in 1994 as Product Engineer, defining and leading development of products for the digital, HD and IP eras. Over 19 years he occupied various R&D roles including R&D Manager and Principal Engineer. Today Briscoe provides technology and standards consultation to the rapidly evolving media industry. He is Canadian Regional Governor, Past Chair of the Toronto Section and a Fellow of the SMPTE, a member of IEEE, and an active participant on many SMPTE and other standards committees. An established industry thought-leader, Briscoe has delivered many technical papers to audiences including SMPTE, IEEE, VSF, AES, EBU, IRT, NAB, and PBS. He is an active Radio Amateur, avid maker of many things, a curler in the winter and cyclist and gardener in the summer.
