AES, NAB NY Live and In-Person

As pandemic shutdowns of major industry events subside, October 2022 saw the return of two venerable industry events, co-located together for the first time ever. The AES Convention for audio professionals and the NAB New York show took place in late October, combined onto one show floor at New York City’s Javits Center, and both, though modestly attended compared to the pre-pandemic era, were successful. Mix Magazine recently reported that the 153^rd AES show, and the first in-person AES event since 2019, had about 7,000 attendees, while the NAB NY show had about 9,500 attendees, with many of them moving back-and-forth between both shows. Mix also reported that both shows included a far more extensive group of brand-new products from various manufacturers than recent audio shows, an indicator that the industry is, at long last, trying to put the pandemic in its rear-view mirror.
