Program Series Optimized for Attendees in the Asia-Pacific Region at SMPTE 2020: ‘Game On’

November 3, 2020

WHITE PLAINS, N.Y.Nov. 3, 2020 — SMPTE® today announced that SMPTE 2020: “Game On,” the Society’s interactive and immersive remote technical conference experience, will include a series of technical sessions, roundtable discussions, and networking events specially designed for attendees who live or work in the Asia-Pacific (APAC) region. The APAC program will feature four hours of programming per day on 11 and 12 November, beginning with breakfast roundtables at 8 a.m. Hong Kong / 9 a.m. Tokyo/Seoul / 11 a.m. Sydney.

“With Olympic Games scheduled for each of the next two years and the rise in delivery to international streamers, we’ve noticed increased activity and interest in SMPTE’s forward-looking standards and publications,” said Raji Krishnaswami, APAC program coordinator for the SMPTE 2020 Program Committee. “We’re taking advantage of SMPTE 2020’s online format to deliver an APAC-centered program that highlights topics of interest to the region, such as 8K, video over IP, and high dynamic range/wide color gamut. This program is a significant step in SMPTE’s ongoing work to serve members, and the industry, around the globe.

With timing that aligns with workday hours across the APAC region, the customized program schedule offers attendees a unique and convenient opportunity to engage directly with presenters in real-time discussions related to the session topic. Each presentation will be followed by live Q&A.
