Early Bird Registration for the 2023 Media Technology Summit ends this Saturday August 12th! This year’s summit will be more engaging, more educational, and more fun than ever before. The sessions will be dynamic, the exhibits will be innovative, and the networking events are sure to yield opportunities you won’t find anywhere else. There a ton of can’t miss sessions and events, including Development of Cloud-Based Media Production Systems with Jae-Young Lee, Green Video Compression for Metaverse with Natalia Molinero Mingorance, and Enhancements to Media Transport in ICVFX using SMPTE 2110 with Alejandro Arango. These sessions are just the tip of iceberg, so checkout the website to register and learn more.

Earlier this week, we announced that Chief Technology Officer of Digital Domain, Hanno Basse, will be the keynote speaker for this year’s Summit! Basse has spent years in the media tech industry, implementing Cloud and AI technology at Microsoft Azure and DirecTV’s video-on-demand infrastructure. We’re excited to have him share his experience and industry insight!

In events news, The Biggest Virtual Production Event Ever took place last Thursday, and it was certainly a sight to behind. We’d like to thank everyone involved included the students and faculty at LAMDA, as well as our sponsors and panelists. It was an incredible evening showcasing the power and versatility of virtual production. We hope everyone who attended learned a lot and had fun doing it.

That’s it for this week’s SMPTE Sum-Up. For more information on past and current events, standards projects, and webcasts, visit our website. See you next week!
