The SMPTE Sum-Up

October 8, 2023

Welcome to the SMPTE Sum-Up, the weekly publication that details the recent and current events of your favorite standards development organization. This week at SMPTE:

The Hollywood section held an event called, “SDR and HDR – There’s More to Discuss!” And thus, the prophecy came to pass, as the evening was a robust discussion on the best practices in SDR and HDR workflows. Cohosted by the Colorist Society Hollywood in association with the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, the evening included technical sessions from some of the industry’s best colorists, as well as a lively panel discussion.

In RiS-OSA news, the Catena introductory video is finally available! The video provides an exciting sneak peek into Catena's world and the limitless potential it holds. Catena’s mission is to create seamless interoperability across vendors, platforms, and environments, whether in the cloud, on-premises, or hybrid setups. You can check out the video here: https://www.smpte.org/rapid-industry-solutions/osa.
