The SMPTE Sum-Up

Welcome to the SMPTE Sum-Up, the weekly publication that details the recent and current events of your favorite standards development organization. This week at SMPTE:

It was a lighter week for SMPTE events…unless you were SMPTE Ohio, that is! They attended the 2023 Midwest Broadcast & Multimedia Technology Conference and had a lovely time doing it. The conference featured networking events, technical sessions, door prizes, and a dining experience. The Ohio section even held a meeting of their own at the event! It was truly a delightful experience for the Midwest broadcasting industry.

IBC wrapped up on Monday September 18th, and SMPTE made a big impression! SMPTE President Renard Jenkins, Executive Director David Grindle, and Director of Business Development and Outreach Dr. Michele Wright all participated in special events, including the drinks and networking event co-hosted by BT Media and Broadcast. This entire event showcased SMPTE’s importance to the media tech world, and we invite everyone to be a member of the organization.

Immediately after IBC, the SMPTE Technology Committee Meetings were held in Paris! The meeting was an opportunity for those in the Standards community to present their progress on solutions, discuss new projects, and network. These meetings are vital to the standards community and the future of the media tech industry, so we’re happy they went well!
